“Isaiah 61” is part of an project with New Waterloo Hospitality Management for the South Congress Hotel property. The sprawling, 12 foot triptych was inspired by the 61st chapter in the book of Isaiah. The colors and form represent the “flourishing” and “sprouting” described in the year of the Lord’s favor for his people. I wanted the piece to feel organic and floral, capturing the warmth of flowers in springtime. The 3 panels are framed with raw steel to coordinate with the aesthetic of the hotel. The work hangs in the Pre-Function room near the main lobby.
