Even in the flame, there is refinement. Though the swells may engulf us, we drown in mercy. Beyond pursuit of being in His will, all other endeavors are futile.
This painting was commissioned for a friend who happened to be going through a time of challenge and great change. At the same time, he recognized the growth that was happening in his heart. It was this transitional breakthrough which we both came to visualize as the elements of fire and water. More specifically, a small but fiery traveller, taking on a vast ocean - with the mission of being in His will.
Words of both the Lord reaching out, and the traveller answering the call, are displayed subtly throughout the composition.
